Easy Does It...

We’re down to the Final 4! It looks like our boy, Will Banks has finally slipped. It was a good run…but I think you’re done now. You’ve been replaced by Easy E!

Congrats Easy E! My only problem with this is that if you win, the trophy stays in Plano for another year. …and none of us want that. Unfortunately, it looks like that’s the way it’s going to play out. :-)

Closing in on the Final 4

No real change from yesterday. Will is still on top…and Jernie is still bringing up the rear. …And Bone still hasn’t created a video.

Come on Sooners!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-)

I'm Back to Talk Smack! - We're down to the Elite 8!

Hello Family.

I apologize for being quiet this year. I’ve had a lot going on. …but I am back in the good old "US of A" and I’m ready to talk a little smack.

First of all, let’s applaud Bone to taking the lead and getting the pool started this year. Thanks, Bone. We appreciate it. Unfortunately, it appears to have worn you completely out. As the Jr. Commissioner (as I do emphasize, Jr.), it was your responsibility to ensure that smack was talked on a very regular basis…that a blog was created…that Headroe was polishing up the trophy and preparing to ship it to our next champion…to make a video or two…etc. What did we get from you? An e-mail generated by the espn web-site. Not too impressive, my friend. Not too impressive. This is an organization that must be run with the precision of a rocket ship or submarine. There is no room for slackers. I hereby remove your title of Jr. Commissioner and strip you of most of your duties and responsibilities. You will retain the title of videographer…but keep in mind, this too can be taken away. So, impress us and maybe, just maybe we’ll keep you on.

Speaking of the Commissioner role… Who knows, maybe it a Commissioner and Jr. Commissioner thing…but Bone and I are comfortably poised in 16th place. Striking distance…as we like to say. Don’t worry Bone, if you are with me, you can’t be doing too poorly. Keep your head up.

It appears that Jernie has comfortably sewn up 25th place. I wasn’t sure there for a while…but now I am. Congrats Jernie…you can now relax and enjoy the rest of the tournament without having to worry whether you will finish in 24th or 25th place. Enjoy. :-)

My man, Will Banks. What can I say? This is very impressive. This is very impressive, indeed. Let me introduce you to my cousin, Big Tex. He’s the one who will be sending you a nice big present…if you don’t fall apart in the end. Keep it together and you’ll enjoy the Champions trophy. Good job, my friend. One quick question for everyone else…how is this guy related to me? I may have to check “The Graves Family Pool Bylaws” to see what the rules are around relatives of in-laws winning the trophy. I’m sure I have thought of this and drafted some type of legislation. Let me get back to you. :-)

Other impressive starts include little Corbin. Good job, Corbin. However, I distinctly remember there being a rule about being able to speak before you can enter the tournament pool. Why am I even writing to you…you can’t read either… or can you? Anyway, I guess this message goes out to you mother or father (…whichever one is guilty of this infraction). Parents of Corbin, I will need irrefutable video proof that this child, indeed, made his own selections for this very impressive bracket that has been submitted. I (and pool members I select) will review the video evidence and render a decision. This judgment will be communicated if Corbin happens to finish in first place. If he doesn’t, we don’t care. 2nd place is just like 25th place…right, Jernie?

Jada, the way things look, you could be sitting on a gold mine. If you take out the 2 hoodlums who have sneaked into the pool, you could be the winner…if you keep it together for the next few rounds. You are a Graves…you have mothered Graves children…and you can clearly read and speak. That, without a doubt, qualifies you as a legitimate contender. Keep up the good work.

Good luck to all this evening…and Will, I’m just kidding. If you win, the trophy is yours for the next year!
